How did you first find out about Frame of Mind Coaching™?

I heard Kim speaking on the Thriveology podcast with Lee Baucom, and her ideas about journaling struck a chord with me, as I used to journal about 15 years ago on my own.

What were you struggling with prior to coaching?

I was going through a significant relationship situation, which was affecting many areas of my life. I didn’t really know how to handle it all and I needed some direction and a space to work things out. I re-read my old journals before coaching and was shocked to read that I was struggling with the same issues back then. I knew things had to change!

Has coaching impacted how you show up in your relationships?

Absolutely. I would say the theme of my coaching experience was learning to show up in my relationships as Stuart, version 2.0. (this was a phrase that Chari started using). It has got my life back on track.

Previously I would shut down or ‘check out’ in relationships, with the belief that I’m not important and my opinion doesn’t matter. Coaching has taught me to trade up that thinking. The biggest change is that I’m learning to be present, accounted for and in the moment.

Has coaching impacted how you show up at work?

Yes, I now approach my day to day work with a much more positive mindset and am more engaged. As a result, a couple of new opportunities have opened up which I am really enjoying.

I’m now more open to seeing new learning opportunities and some potential exciting career developments which previously I would not have considered. I’ve even begun mentoring and educating physiotherapy students, which has given me the opportunity to use some of the FOM Principles to help in their learning.

What was it like journaling every day?

The big difference between journaling on my own and this was writing daily to a theme each week and getting responses from a coach. I had never had before. It was amazing to go back over my life and see how past events, people and experiences had influenced my thinking and behaviour. I looked forward to reading Chari’s thoughts every day and we had great and pivotal conversations during our coaching calls. I loved the journaling process and Chari said I was prolific!

How would you describe Chari as a coach?

Chari is awesome and so down to earth. We clicked easily and quickly developed the trust one needs in this situation. Even though I'm in New Zealand and she's in Toronto, she was always flexible and available. What really stood out for me was that Chari was genuinely interested in helping me, cared about me and my journey, and even though she was on the other side of the world, she was only a phone call or a message away.

Would you recommend FOM Coaching to others?

Yes, it was a great experience. Take the risk and do it. I procrastinated a while before committing to it, mainly because I thought coaching like this was only for top executive types or high profile athletes, for example. But anybody can benefit from the FOM Coaching Principles.

Coaching challenged me to really think about who I am, what I want and why I want it. Since the course, I have continued to grow and use the principles I learned in all areas of my life.
