Frame Of Mind Coaching vs. Tony Robbins Coaching
Everyone has vague ideas about how coaching works. For better or worse, sports movies, boxing montages and an uptick in workplace motivational speakers have ensured that coaching has become as ubiquitous in popular culture as Barbie dolls and “Live, Laugh, Love” signs. Despite their popularity, however, most people don’t know what coaches actually do.
Or that there are different kinds of coaches.
That’s right: not all coaches are trained the same, and not all coaching programs work alike. It’s a shame, considering different mentorship programs vary widely in their frequency, methodology, cost and more. Today we’re going to look at two different well-known coaching programs — Tony Robbins coaching and Frame Of Mind Coaching™ — to help you decide which (if either) is right for you. In order to help you choose, we’ll go over the cost of life coaching for each program, as well as differences in mentorship styles and more.
Let’s dive in.
Tony Robbins coaching
Most people have heard about Tony Robbins life coaching. The program is, for the most part, straightforward: potential coach-ees are paired with mentors who are either personally trained by Robbins himself or are intimately familiar with his coaching process. Coaches cannot simply “buy” their way into the program and must earn a place on the Robbins team by becoming outstanding achievers themselves.
The Tony Robbins coaching program doesn’t necessarily pair you with someone in your same field — their belief is that a coach doesn’t have to be an expert in your industry in order to help you grow. Coaches are also encouraged to become more than just a “mentor.” If you sign up for the program, your coach will work to form a genuine friendship with you in order to help you grow and succeed organically.
Tony Robbins coaching process
There are two key factors you should know about the Tony Robbins coaching process before you sign up: the duration of the program, as well as the process itself. Let’s look at both.
- Life coaching duration: According to their site, it’s recommended that the Tony Robbins coaching experience should last for at least one year. During that time, you’re expected to build a relationship with your coach, set goals and eliminate roadblocks to your own success. Depending on the specific nature of the program you sign up for, you can spend as little as 6 months with your coach, or as long as 18 months. This is a lot different than other coaching programs: instead of a more streamlined approach, the Tony Robbins program takes a long-haul view when it comes to coaching. The goal is to make subtle but permanent changes through slowly altering the way you approach your entire life.
- Life coaching process: The Tony Robbins life coaching process is comprised of three steps. First, you’ll be asked to identify your limiting beliefs that prevent you from living “an extraordinary life.” Next, you’ll work to develop patterns that help you overcome those beliefs. Lastly, you’ll reinforce the patterns you’ve developed and cross your goals off your list one by one. This three-step process transpires over an extended timeframe that includes frequent communication with a life coach.
How much is Tony Robbins coaching?
It can be hard to find accurate information about coaching costs online. While there’s no direct details on their website regarding the price of Tony Robbins life coaching, some sources say that coaching programs can cost between $3,000-$7,200 for six months of mentorship. For a year of coaching, costs range between $6,000-$14,500. That’s a pretty steep buy-in, but many coach-ees who go through the program say the cost is worth it for the experience you gain.
Now, let’s look at an alternate coaching approach: Frame Of Mind Coaching™.
Frame Of Mind Coaching™
Frame Of Mind Coaching™ is a Toronto-based goal-acquisition mentorship program that relies on a rigorous coaching timeframe to help you unlock your inner potential. Unlike Tony Robbins coaching, which places a greater emphasis on the specific coach you’ll be working with, Frame Of Mind Coaching™ is centered around altering your beliefs and perceptions to help you achieve your goals. Frame Of Mind Coaching™ also relies on a streamlined, shorter coaching duration with the goal of helping you see results in the short-term that inspire you to keep achieving your goals long after the coaching period is over. While behaviour change is an indicator of success, FOM Coaching™ spends most of it's time diving deep into the way our thinking and our values affect everything around us.
Frame Of Mind Coaching™ process
Just as we analyzed the Tony Robbins life coaching process, let’s look at the duration and process of the Frame Of Mind Coaching™ program.
- Life coaching duration: On the Frame Of Mind Coaching™ site you’ll find that mentors work with coach-ees for a period of 10 weeks. That’s (intentionally) much shorter than the Tony Robbins coaching process. During this time, you’ll participate in 10 calls with your certified coach, and you’ll also spend 70 days performing interactive journaling with them. The process is intense, intimate, and designed to help you move rapidly toward your goals.
- Life coaching process: Frame Of Mind Coaching™ works differently from other coaching platforms by offering coach-ees an interactive platform to catalogue their results. Clients use a digital journal as a means of quickly identifying thoughts and beliefs that are hindering them from meeting their goals. Coaches then read these journals and highlight those beliefs while providing creative solutions to negative thinking patterns. In keeping with the rapid pace of Frame Of Mind Coaching, coaches make themselves available to talk in near-real time, providing 24/7 support to journal-ees who might have to wait for a weekly call from their coach under another program.
How much is Frame Of Mind Coaching™?
The cost of Frame Of Mind Coaching™ is $6000 USD for 10 weeks of coaching. Coaching begins with a complimentary coaching call, where Kim gets to know you directly to match you with one of the FOM Coaches. Frame Of Mind Coaching™ is comparably less expensive than Tony Robbins life coaching — although it may not make sense to compare an 18-month life mentorship experience with a 10-week intensive coaching program that focuses on deep shifts in thinking.
How to start life coaching
Now that you know some of the life coaching options out there, which should you choose? In short, it makes the most sense to invest in what you’re personally looking for. Do you want a day-in, day-out mentoring experience that looks to change every aspect of your life slowly but dependably over a period of six months to a year and a half? Or would you rather experience an intimate, high-impact coaching period that involves journaling and constant communication to uncover ways to break past hindering thoughts and beliefs in order to achieve your goals?
If you’re looking for that first kind of experience, Tony Robbins life coaching is probably right for you. If the second option appeals to your tastes, Frame Of Mind Coaching™ is likely a better fit.
