Coaching: 10 weeks 1-on-1 Coaching with Kim Ades

How did you first find out about Frame of Mind Coaching?
I saw Kim Ades speak at a TEC conference. During her presentation, she asked for a volunteer, and I took the plunge. Not to give away her presentation, but I was blown away by the conversation that ensued. In a matter of minutes, she was able to identify one of my limiting beliefs: I don’t like asking for help.

What were you struggling with prior to coaching?
I was seeing a lot of behavior in my children, my wife and my employees that I didn’t like, and I myself was a rager. I would get super angry and lash out. As a result, my young son started hitting and my daughter was frustrated.

How did coaching impact that?
I discovered that I had a lot of limiting beliefs that were holding me back. Now, I am not the same person I was ten weeks ago. Coaching has given me the tools to significantly curb my rage and be more loving, warm, kind − more of the person I really am.

By changing myself, other people are changing around me in amazing ways. I’ve learned that when you see people in a better light, they perform better. For example, I learned that I can’t yell at my kids to get them to calm down − I need to demonstrate it instead. I can be much more effective by modeling the behavior I want to see in others.

What was it like journaling every day?
Journaling is the most powerful tool I’ve ever used. I had no idea how much I’d love it and crave that output. It’s one of the best releases. JournalEngine™ is an incredible platform to use, too. It’s almost like Facebook for journaling. You can share your journals or keep them private. I am thrilled with the interaction I experienced.

How would you describe Kim as a coach?
Kim is brilliant! She is full of endless love and acceptance, and yet is hard and real. She can dig into your problems to expose their soft underbelly, and it’s done with complete love and acceptance. I have a tremendous amount of respect for her.

You attended our last FOM Methods session. Why did you decide to come?
While I was being coached by Kim, she was also helping me coach people in both of my businesses. I realized just how much I loved coaching. I believed so strongly in the methods that I was learning and I was seeing such incredible results for myself that I wanted to learn the coaching technique and share it with those around me.

What was your biggest takeaway from FOM Methods?
The best part of FOM Methods was the journaling and being coached through it. My wife was there as well, and I think it might have been the most pivotal experience in our marriage.
