Want a 30 Million Dollar Company?
I received an email from a business acquaintance a couple of days ago, asking me if I could connect him with any business owners I knew who were making in excess of $30 million. He said he was looking for a mentor to help him achieve that type of goal for himself.
We agreed to hop on the phone for a quick chat:
What are you looking for? What exactly are you struggling with?
I’ve been able to reach 2.5 million in sales, but I’ve plateaued. I haven’t been able to exceed that mark. I want to speak to someone who has reached over $30 million so that I can figure out how to do it myself.
I’d be happy to connect you with some of my clients who have built multi-million dollar companies. Having said that, is coaching something you might consider?
He asked about Frame of Mind Coaching. This is how I described it:
-every call is recorded
-daily journaling with your coach
-it’s intimate and it’s intense
The goal is to help you align your thinking with the goals you are trying to achieve. The process allows us to look at your thoughts, beliefs, perspectives and past experiences in order to help us understand how your thinking is hindering your success and remove any barriers so that the runway is clear for you to soar.
That sounds a little theoretical. What I’m looking for is a plan of action so that I know what I need to do in order to reach my goal.
You don’t have a “doing” problem, you have a thinking problem.
What do you mean?
Your thinking is getting in the way of your success. Creating a plan is not an issue for you. You’ve done that in the past, and you’ve been able to reach your current level of success. The greater issue is that your current thinking is actually preventing you from reaching your next goal.
The thinking that helped you get to $2.5 million is not the same thinking that you’re going to need to get to $30 million. And until that’s addressed, you can work your butt off doing all the things you think you need to do, but you’ll still feel like you’re on a treadmill going nowhere.
Explain that a little more.
As a leader, your thinking has a greater impact on the success of your company than any other factor, and that’s where you need to start.
Well what do you recommend I do?
There’s that “doing” thing again! How about if you talk to some of my past clients who have achieved huge success. They’ll help you to understand the role that their thinking played in achieving their goals. Then we can look at how your thinking is affecting your ability to reach your goals.
When we want to learn how someone became successful, we tend to focus on what they did to get there. We focus on what their actions were and what steps they took. It’s like we’re reading a manual.
A more strategic plan would be to focus on what their thinking was when their success unfolded. What was their mindset like? What beliefs did they have about themselves that propelled them forward?
Our thinking will determine what we can achieve. How is your thinking affecting your ability to reach your goals?
